The Black Castle scenes were filmed on a blue screen stage with Digital Domain extending the scenery to fully realize it’s dungeon like setting, including digital water that was realized via award winning FSIM fluid simulation software. Digital Domain’s handiwork can also be seen in the CG animated crocodile that terrorizes Captain Hood and eventually devours him.
